Sew Dates: Ryan's Case for Smiles: Anne Newcombe, who is the Lead for Miles for Smiles in Nova Scotia and Ryan's Case for Smiles, dropped off 5 bolts of Halloween fabric and 1 bolt of black trim for us to make the pillowcases. I've created a link for the instructions in case you don't already have them and want to make some from your own Halloween fabric.
I have two days set up on Sunday, Sept 28, 1-4 pm and Monday, Sept 29, 10am-2 pm for sewing Halloween pillowcases for the IWK Ryan's Case for Smiles program that Mayflower has taken part in for the last few years.
This will take place at the Royal Canadian Naval Association Peregrine Branch, 3660 Commission Street, Halifax. The space is in the basement and there is an elevator just inside the main doors (first set of glass doors on your left as you enter the parking lot). It's the first building on your right as you turn off Lady Hammond Road or the last building on your right if you come from Kempt Road.
The space is free for our use on those two days. There is a small kitchen with fridge, stove, kettle, etc. All parking spaces in front of the building are available on Sunday. On Monday, any parking spaces next to the building on the left of the main doors as you face the building, plus spaces across from the building marked Ravensberg College or Halifax Furniture are available for us.
The space is secured with Wilson's Security so everything can be left overnight if you choose to attend both days.

We also support other charitable donations such as Bravery Bead Bags. In 2016/2017 Mayflower Quilters Guild began making Bravery Bead Bags for the IWK Bravery Heart Bead Program. Since then we have supplied over 600 bags for the program. There are typically 100 children per year enrolled in Bravery Beads, where they receive beads to signify milestones/procedures etc. during their treatment at the IWK Children’s Hospital. The strung beads can then be kept in their own special bag.
